Brayden Morgan, a junior at Glen Burnie High School, was elected the 2025-26 student member of the Anne Arundel County Board of Education, according to an Instagram post from the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils.

“I am beyond excited for this opportunity to work with my fellow Board members and represent AACPS students,” Morgan said April 30 in a news release. “As a student who represents students who traditionally feel unheard, I am grateful for this position, which will allow me to elevate those voices. Thank you, AACPS students. I will not let you down.”

Morgan beat Michelle Fadele of Chesapeake High School and Jack Warrick of Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School.

The selection process is run by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils, the representative organization of all students enrolled in AACPS secondary schools.

According to CRASC bylaws, each school selects a delegation to represent them in the vote, with voting power equal to 15% of the school’s total enrollment.Morgan’s name will be forwarded to Gov. Wes Moore, a Democrat, who makes the formal appointment.

Once appointed, Morgan will become the 52nd student member of the board. He will be the fourth one from Glen Burnie High School and succeed Hafsa Hamdaoui of Crofton High School, whose term expires June 30.

Morgan plays varsity soccer, co-founded his school’s Polar Bear Plunge Committee and helped lead an effort this year that raised more than $30,000 for the Special Olympics.

He said he plans to focus on elevating student voices, expanding representation for special education students and increasing awareness of the district’s vocational schools and student service opportunities.
