Saint Maria Goretti boys basketball upended No. 3 Mount Saint Joseph, 58-46, in the fifth-place game Saturday of the Alhambra Catholic Invitational basketball tournament at the Cordts Physical Education Center in Frostburg.

Mount Saint Joseph (31-8) finished 1-2 at the tournament.

No. 1 St. Frances 92, Bishop Walsh 71: Jason Murphy and Jordan Toles each scored 19 points to lead the Panthers (36-7) past the Spartans (9-12) to take seventh place at the Alhambra Catholic Invitational basketball tournament.

Girls basketball

Poolesville 63, Queen Anne’s 23: Erin Green scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Falcons (27-0) past the Lions (24-3) in the Class 2A state final at SECU Arena in Towson.

Southern-Garrett 52, Largo 48: The Rams (25-1) outscored the Lions (19-9), 18-13, in the fourth quarter to win the Class 1A state final at SECU Arena in Towson. Courtney Roth scored a game-high 28 points for Southern-Garrett.

Boys lacrosse

Calvert Hall 16, Ponte Vedra (Fla.) 7: Brothers and North Carolina commits Daniel and Jacob Kelly led the way as the visiting Cardinals (2-0) beat the Sharks (6-1-1) at the King of the Spring tournament at North Carolina Central.

Daniel had three goals and four assists and Jacob had four goals and two assists.

Boys’ Latin 12, Oxbridge Academy (Fla.) 5: The Yale-bound Matt Brandau and Brendan Grimes each had a hat trick to lead the visiting Lakers (2-0) past the Thunderwolves (6-1).
