“Isle of Dogs”

Animated/comedy, PG-13. Wes Anderson’s latest adventure follows a boy searching for his dog on an island inhabited by canines. With the voices of Bryan Cranston, Tilda Swinton and Courtney B. Vance.

“Pacific Rim Uprising”

Action/drama, PG-13. Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) and Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) lead their frenemy Lambert (Scott Eastwood) and new Jaeger pilots in the fight against a young hacker.

“Sherlock Gnomes”

Animated adventure, PG. The Gnomes are back, and there’s a mystery to solve when some garden ornaments go missing. With the voices of James McAvoy, Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp.

“Finding Your Feet”

Dramedy, PG-13. After learning her husband is having an affair, an upper-middle-class woman (Imelda Staunton) moves in with her more carefree sister (Celia Imrie) and attempts to enjoy life again.

“Ready Player One”

Drama/sci-fi, PG-13. Steven Spielberg adapts Ernest Cline’s novel about a teen (Tye Sheridan) who enters a virtual-reality game in hopes of winning a prize that would make him the wealthiest human in the world. First, though, he must defeat an evil corporation and stop a war.

“Tyler Perry’s Acrimony”

Drama, R. Tyler Perry directs as a wife (Taraji P. Henson) tires of her husband’s (Lyriq Bent) cheating and decides to get revenge.

“Lean on Pete”

Drama, R. While working for the summer at the stables, a teenage boy (Charlie Plummer, “All the Money in the World”) befriends an aging racehorse. Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny also star.

“Chappaquiddick”

Drama, PG-13. A reimagining of the night in 1969 when Mass. Sen. Ted Kennedy (Jason Clarke) crashed his car, resulting in the death of a young campaign worker (Kate Mara).

“A Quiet Place”

Horror/thriller, PG-13. John Krasinski (“The Office”) directs and stars as a husband and father whose family lives in complete silence. The faintest noise could expose them to an unknown killer. Emily Blunt also stars.

“Overboard”

Comedy, PG-13. In a reversal of the original movie starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, a wealthy man (Eugenio Derbez, “How to Be a Latin Lover”) with amnesia is the target of revenge when he is rescued by his employee (Anna Faris). Eva Longoria co-stars
