Oran Routh, the son of the man accused of trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump, has been arrested for allegedly possessing “hundreds of child pornography files.”

Federal prosecutors issued a criminal complaint saying the FBI obtained a warrant to search Routh’s Greensboro, N.C. home and his person “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation.”

The FBI confirmed that agents also found several illegal drugs and paraphernalia inside Routh’s home. Local court records show law enforcement seized a black and gold tray containing cocaine, MDMA and ketamine.

Meanwhile, federal prosecutors said in their filings that the FBI also seized several electronic devices in connection to that investigation, including a Samsung Galaxy cell phone. Court records say a label “Manufactured in Korea” was affixed to the device.

“When powered on, a message appears on Device-1 offering a reward if it is returned to its owner,” federal charging documents said. “An email address that belongs to Routh is provided as a contact in the message.”

According to court documents, the FBI discovered files including videos from a “known child pornography series” they said was created outside Routh’s resident state. These videos allegedly involve minor females between the ages of 8 and 10 engaging in sexually explicit conduct with an adult male.

A second cell phone contained sexually explicit content of an adult female engaging in oral sex acts with a minor female approximately between the ages of 6 and 8, according to charging documents. The FBI also located a messaging app with conversations between the seller of the illegal pornography and Routh, the court documents say.

Oran Routh previously spoke hours after his father, Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested for allegedly trying to assassinate former President Trump in West Palm Beach, Fl. less than two weeks ago.

The 35-year-old blamed the media when asked for his initial reaction to news of his father’s alleged assassination attempt.

“You’re part of the problem here, and I resent it, and won’t reward it with my attention or effort,” Routh said. “That’s part of the problem with everyone and everything, the sensationalist 24-hour news cycle.”
