The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in Houston said agents removed three criminals who allegedly entered the U.S. illegally at least six times.
One of those men was wanted in Mexico on suspicion of murder and had multiple convictions for drunken driving and more, ICE said.
“Fueled by our unwavering commitment to protect the public from harm, and united in our determination to reestablish sovereignty over our southern border, the law enforcement community in Texas has banded together to remove these dangerous criminals from our country and restore law and order in our communities,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office Director Bret Bradford said in a news release.
President Donald Trump took office a month ago and made it a priority to find and arrest people in the country illegally who are also accused of other crimes. Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan said Trump’s immigration crackdown within the U.S. borders has served as a deterrent for illegal border crossings. He said interior arrests by ICE agents are up more than 137% under Trump.
The Department of Homeland Security said Thursday that daily border encounters have decreased 93%.
Immigrants in the country illegally who have criminal backgrounds are being prioritized in the early going of the crackdown, but Homan has said any immigrant who isn’t authorized to be in the country could be arrested and deported.
“I won’t be satisfied until every criminal gang member is eradicated from this country, every illegal alien with a criminal conviction is eradicated in this country,” Homan said. “Then we open the aperture up to those who are illegally in the United States.”
ICE announced nearly 8,300 arrests in Trump’s first 10 days in office.
ICE also reported thousands of detainers lodged in those first couple of weeks.
ICE has stopped its daily statistical updates via X.
The Washington Post reported last weekend that ICE arrests have sagged from the initial surge after Trump took office.
ICE and the DHS was contacted for updated arrest figures on Friday but did not give a response before this story was published.
ICE’s newsroom and social media feed updates are now focusing on the types of immigrants who are being arrested, showing them in handcuffs and surrounded by law enforcement officers.
The arrest of an alleged murderer from Ecuador was included in recent ICE announcements.
ICE announced prosecutions of people accused of drug dealing, burglary and sexual exploitation of a child. Officials in Boston on Friday said they arrested a Brazilian gang member convicted of assault and battery.
The 21-year-old, has “shown a blatant disregard for U.S. immigration laws” and was “a significant danger to the residents of Massachusetts,” ICE ERO Boston acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde said in a news release.

Many Americans, 59%, have expressed support for Trump’s increasing efforts to deport people, according to the Pew Research Center.
Those surveys, conducted after Trump took office, also showed 58% approved of sending more troops to the southern border, 47% approved of Trump’s plans to cut federal funds to sanctuary cities and 44% approved of suspending asylum applications.
Overall, 47% of people responding to the Pew Research Center surveys said Trump was doing the right amount on deportations, 44% said Trump was doing too much and 8% said Trump was doing too little.
Nearly 90% of Republicans approved of the increased deportation efforts of the Trump administration, but only a third of Democrats did.
The Pew Research Center found most Hispanic Republicans, 69%, supported the increased deportations. Just 27% of Hispanic Democrats also supported the increased deportations.
Trump campaigned on mass deportations and stricter border controls.
“President Trump promised a secure border and he is delivering,” Homan said Monday on social media.
