Couple’s deaths investigated as murder-suicide, police say

Baltimore County police are investigating the Tuesday deaths of an Owings Mills husband and wife as a murder-suicide, the department said Thursday.

Karen Franklin, 59, and Gary Franklin, 63, were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds Tuesday on the 3500 block of Avery Hill Drive, according to a news release from Baltimore County Police Department.

Though the manner of their deaths has yet to be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said a preliminary investigation suggested one of the victims had a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A GoFundMe for Karen Franklin’s funeral and family has raised just over $24,500 as of Thursday afternoon.
