Just as Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman have dominated on the field this season, the Orioles stars are commanding the ballot box.

Henderson, Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle lead their respective positions in All-Star voting after the first phase of voting concluded Thursday afternoon, MLB Network announced, and three more Orioles advanced to the second phase of voting to decide the final group of position players for the American League squad.

Henderson, who leads the AL in FanGraphs’ wins above replacement and is top two in the league with 26 home runs and a .618 slugging percentage, leads the Kansas City Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. at shortstop. Rutschman paces all AL catchers in home runs, batting average and on-base percentage and is ahead of the Royals’ Salvador Perez. Mountcastle still holds a narrow lead over the Toronto Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at first base.

Baltimore’s catcher and shortstop are second and third in total votes received across the AL behind only New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge. They were two of just eight MLB players to receive more than 2.5 million votes and lead their competition by more than 1 million votes.

Jordan Westburg, who manager Brandon Hyde said he’s surprised to see stamp himself as one of baseball’s best at the position so quickly, is the second-leading vote getter at third base with 1,483,697 and trails the Cleveland Guardians’ José Ramírez. Anthony Santander finished phase one third among outfielders with 1,478,034 votes and Ryan O’Hearn received 1,222,497, the second most among designated hitters behind Houston’s Yordan Alvarez, to advance to the next stage.

“Happy to have those fans voting for me,” Santander said Thursday. “That motivates me to keep working hard.”Second baseman Jorge Mateo and outfielders Colton Cowser and Cedric Mullins, who were in line or within reach of being named finalists as of MLB’s last update, did not move on.

Mateo finished as the third-leading second baseman and Cowser received the fifth most outfield votes, both one place away from moving on.

Some Baltimore pitchers have also made their case to attend this season’s All-Star game in Arlington, Texas on July 16, although voting is only open for position players.

Corbin Burnes, who starts against the Texas Rangers on Thursday, enters the game with the fifth best ERA in the AL at 2.35.

Grayson Rodriguez halted the Orioles’ five-game losing streak with a seven-inning, two-run outing in his most recent start. Craig Kimbrel, a nine-time All-Star, boasts a 0.60 ERA over his past 16 appearances and has the third most saves in the AL this season.

“[Burnes] has been incredible,” Hyde said, “First half All-Star performance.”

Phase one concluded Thursday at noon. The top two players at each position and the top five outfielders advanced to phase two, which opens to voters Sunday, and phase one vote totals do not carry over to the final phase.

ESPN will unveil starters July 3, and complete rosters will be announced July 7.
