New details have been released regarding the arrest of a man accused of posting threatening messages to President Donald Trump.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said its SWAT team and U.S. Secret Service executed a search warrant at 3508 Metzger Road in Fort Pierce on March 17 after an investigation into written threats to Trump.

The operation led to the arrest of 42-year-old Kendall Aaron Todd, who was wanted on an active warrant for written threats to kill or do bodily harm. Todd had posted threatening messages on his public social media page indicating intentions to harm Trump, according to the news release.

“We take all threats of violence extremely seriously. The discovery of firearms and ammunition in connection with threats made against President Trump is deeply concerning,” Sheriff Richard Del Toro Jr. said on Thursday.

During the search, detectives recovered an FN Herstal Belgium 5.7x28mm handgun and a Ruger .22 caliber handgun.

Multiple electronic devices relevant to the ongoing investigation were also confiscated.

The sheriff’s office said authorities also seized more than 1,000 rounds of various caliber ammunition, including:

.22 caliber

7.62mm

.380 caliber

12-gauge shotgun shells

.410 gauge

8x60mm

.45 caliber

5.7x28mm rounds

The recovered evidence will be analyzed as part of the effort to assess potential threats and further the investigation, the sheriff’s office said.

“Thanks to the swift action of our SWAT team and the cooperation of the U.S. Secret Service, we intervened promptly to address the situation and ensure the safety of our president and our community,” Del Toro said.
