President Donald Trump is creating a task force for next year’s World Cup being hosted in the United States.

The president expressed his enthusiasm for the event, calling it “the biggest event” and underscoring the importance of the task force.

“It’s an honor to be part of such a historic moment,” Trump said Friday while revealing he plans to attend. “We’re going to do a fantastic job making sure everyone feels at home here. This is the first time it’s ever been in this part of the world, and we’re going to make it a spectacular experience.”

President of Fédération Internationale de Football Association Gianni Infantino, who was in the Oval Office, acknowledged the achievement of bringing the World Cup to the United States for the first time.

“It’s a great honor to host this prestigious event,” he told Trump. “And the excitement doesn’t stop there. This summer, we’ll also host the FIFA Club World Cup, bringing 11 cities and 12 stadiums together to welcome the best players and teams in the world.”

The World Cup, set to take place across 16 cities in North America, is expected to generate more than $40 billion in economic impact, with 200,000 jobs created leading up to the event.

Infantino emphasized that millions of visitors from around the world would come to the United States, contributing to a global celebration of soccer.

“We’ll have 10 million tickets for sale, and this event will be like hosting three Super Bowls every day for a month,” he said. “The government’s establishment of this task force is crucial to ensuring that everyone who attends feels safe, welcome, and part of something truly special.”

The White House task force, chaired by the president, will oversee security, logistics and other critical areas of preparation for the World Cup. The task force aims to ensure that fans, players and visitors enjoy a seamless experience while minimizing disruptions.

“We want this to be the best show on the planet,” Infantino said. “This is a moment for all of us to come together and create an unforgettable experience for soccer fans worldwide.”

Trump noted the timing of these major events, highlighting the importance of hosting both the World Cup and the Olympics during his tenure.

Trump asked Infantino about the potential of the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team. “The U.S. can absolutely win. We’ve got some amazing players coming back, and the public is behind them,” Infantino said.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to attract more than 100 million viewers, with the final alone expected to draw more than two billion viewers.

Infantino showed off next year’s trophy, which is unfinished, to Trump. He was also given a replica of the official match bal

“It’s a trophy of the future,” Infantino said.

It will be staying at the White House until next year.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said federal law enforcement will be working with local authorities to “ensure it’ll be safe for everyone.”
