IJET International Inc., an Annapolis risk management company, has acquired British firm red24.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition expands iJET's geographic reach and capabilities for responding to emergencies.

“Our center of the universe has been the Americas,” said iJET CEO Bruce McIndoe. “We're building more depth, more breadth.”

All of red24's roughly 100 employees are expected to join iJET. Not including red24's staff, iJET has about 240 employees, including roughly 150 in Annapolis.

Founded in 1999, iJET monitors international activities to identify and mitigate risks for its clients, primarily businesses. The company has to date focused its business in the Americas and is acquiring red24 as it looks to expand its geographic reach in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

In addition to its Annapolis headquarters, iJET has offices in London and Singapore, and an innovation lab in Reston, Va.

Red24 will add offices in Germany, Hong Kong and Cape Town, South Africa, where iJET plans to build on red24's technology team to establish an innovation center for research and development.

The British firm's offices in London and Singapore will be combined with iJET's offices there.

Red24 also brings new capabilities, such as tools to respond to kidnap and ransom situations, and product recalls.

McIndoe said he expected the deal to drive growth in Maryland, too. The company has been looking to play a bigger role spurring economic development among startups that could work with iJET, and is in the process of establishing an incubator in its 30,000-square-foot Annapolis headquarters.

“We're trying to beef up our visibility and position in the Maryland market,” McIndoe said.
