After a seven-year absence, Phaedra Parks is returning to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” on Bravo, the show that made her a reality star.
Parks left the show in a cloud of controversy in 2017 after spreading rumors about fellow cast member Kandi Burruss and alienating the rest of the cast.
“You called. I answered,” Parks posted recently Instagram, with a photo and video of her holding a peach. “Feeling real peachy today.”
A lawyer by trade, Parks was largely off reality TV until 2022 when Bravo brought her back for a limited series called “Ultimate Girls Trip: Ex-Wives Club” with cast members of other “Housewives” franchises. Then last year, she joined sister Bravo show “Married to Medicine” because she was dating someone in the medical profession. But her breakout role in Season 2 of “The Traitors” earlier this year helped lift her profile significantly.
Season 16 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” was delayed in part because Season 15 saw the show hit record lows in ratings. It also led Bravo to ditch most of the Season 15 cast, including original cast member Shereé Whitfield and longtime presence Marlo Hampton. Kandi Burruss, who had been on the show since 2009, voluntarily left earlier this year as well.
Longtime cast member Kenya Moore was set to return but early in taping this summer, she showed lewd photos of a new cast member at a party, which caused such a kerfuffle, she was suspended and ultimately let go.
This left an opening for Parks to return. It’s likely Bravo will not use any Moore footage and bring Parks back clean. It also helps that Burruss is no longer around.
Another longtime cast member, Porsha Williams, is now back in the cast after two years away in what is the biggest cast shake-up in the show’s history going back to 2008.
Pfeiffer Montana-bound in ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff: Michelle Pfeiffer will executive produce and star in “Madison,” a new Taylor Sheridan-penned series set in the “Yellowstone” universe, Paramount announced recently.
Set in present day, “Madison” is the “Yellowstone” sequel that has been promised since it was announced the upcoming second half of Season 5 would air in November. Those final episodes will conclude the series and be without its original star Kevin Costner.
The mothership series, about the Dutton family — who for generations has owned a massive, enviable piece of land in Montana — has been a benchmark for the Paramount streamer. The 2022 premiere episode of Season 5 was watched by 12.1 million people.
Another “Yellowstone” prequel is also planned called “1944.”
Pfeiffer’s show follows a family of New Yorkers, now in the Madison River valley of central Montana, and deals with themes of grief and human connection.
A release date for “Madison” has not been announced.
Wood Jr. to host comedy program: Comedian and actor Roy Wood Jr. is joining CNN for its U.S. remake of the British panel show “Have I Got News for You.”
Wood, 45, will host the quiz show-style format as a forum for comics, pundits and media personalities to satirize the issues of the day. The 10-week series will air Saturdays starting Sept. 14.
Wood was a fixture on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” from 2015 to 2023.
Hat Trick Productions, which makes the British version of “Have I Got News for You” will produce the CNN adaptation.
CNN is turning to the format as it tries to create a viewing habit on Saturday night with topical comedy. The network recently added an encore airing of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” to the night. Both HBO and CNN are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
