Twins: Rookie OF Max Kepler had three two-run homers and six RBIs, leading the Twins to a 12-5 win over the Indians on Monday night. Kepler, who had a single, became the first Twin to homer three times in a game since Justin Morneau in 2007. 1B Joe Mauer was 4-for-4 and homered in the eighth off LHP Andrew Miller, who was making his first appearance with the Indians after being acquired Sunday from the Yankees.

Royals: LHP Danny Duffy pitched eight innings of one-hit ball and had a franchise-record 16 strikeouts to lead the Royals to a 3-0 win over the Rays. Duffy flirted with the Royals' first no-hitter in nearly 25 years before giving up a line-drive double to Desmond Jennings leading off the eighth. DH Kendrys Morales homered for the Royals.

Red Sox: Reliever Fernando Abad was acquired from the Twins in exchange for minor-league pitcher Pat Light. Abad, who'll be eligible for free agency after the 2017 season, has held opponents to a .220 average this season while posting a 2.65 ERA in 39 appearances. Light had a 2.32 ERA in 31 innings for Triple-A Pawtucket.

Indians: The American League Central leaders acquired OF Brandon Guyer from the Rays for two minor leaguers, OF Nathan Lukes and RHP Jhonleider Salinas. Guyer is batting .241 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs in 63 games but has gone 22-for-64 with four homers against left-handers. He has been hit by a pitch a major-league-high 23 times.

Padres: RHP Colin Rea is heading back to the Padres after leaving with an injury in his first start for the Marlins, who acquired him Friday in a seven-player deal. The Padres sent minor-league pitcher Luis Castillo back to the Marlins.

Extra innings: Cardinals SS Aledmys Diaz, one of the leading rookies in the National League, has a hairline fracture in his right thumb and will miss at least several weeks, general manager John Mozeliak announced Monday. He suffered the injury Sunday when he was hit by a pitch from Marlins RHP Andrew Cashner.
