Companies brew up some flood relief
Four local beer-makers have come up with a beer to benefit businesses in Ellicott City and Baltimore damaged by July's flooding.
Key Brewing Co., Monument City Brewing Co., Brewer's Art and White Marsh Brewing Co. are collaborating to create Ryelief, a ginger rye ale whose proceeds will go to the Ellicott City Partnership and the fund assisting Nepenthe Homebrew in the Meadow Mill complex.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from Ryelief, which was released Wednesday, will go toward flood relief funds.
Max's Taphouse in Fells Point will host a Ryelief release event Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Country Malt Group donated all the grains to create Ryelief, which was brewed with North American pale malt, malted rye, Warrior hops and Santiam hops, and fermented with Westmalle Belgian yeast and ginger root. Mark Supik & Co. is donating tap handles to restaurants and bars that will serve the beer.
