Shohei Ohtani had his second two-homer game this season, Tyler Glasnow pitched seven innings of three-hit ball and the Dodgers defeated the Royals 3-0 Sunday as Mookie Betts left in the seventh inning after a pitch broke a bone in his left hand.

“It’s a big blow. I feel bad for Mookie because he’s having an MVP-type season,” manager Dave Roberts said of Betts’ injury.

Even though the Dodgers took two of three in the series it was a tough weekend as two of their star players will be sidelined for an extended period. Right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto was placed on the 15-day injured list before the game due to a strained rotator cuff in his right shoulder. Betts was hit in the left hand by a 97.9 mph fastball from Dan Altavilla. The pitch hit Betts at the top of the hand, near the wrist. Betts fell to the ground and was writhing in pain in the batter’s box as trainers and Roberts came out to tend to him.

Golf: Lilia Vu won the Meijer LPGA Classic in a playoff Sunday in her return from a back injury, spoiling Lexi Thompson’s bid for her first victory in five years. Vu beat Thompson and third-round leader Grace Kim with a 5-foot birdie putt on the third extra hole.

Soccer: Jude Bellingham scored to give England a winning start at Euro 2024 by beating Serbia 1-0. The buildup to the game had been overshadowed by concerns about violence. And some of those fears were realized when police rushed to separate brawls.

WNBA: Caitlin Clark overcame yet another physically demanding challenge from the Sky by finishing with 23 points, nine assists and eight rebounds while Aliyah Boston produced her third consecutive double-double to lead the Fever to a 91-83 win over the Sky on Sunday. For Clark, it was her best day as a pro. She made 7 of 11 shots, three 3-pointers and celebrated her first back-to-back wins of her WNBA career.
