Fatal shootings over the past two days have pushed Baltimore past 100 homicide victims for the year.

The killings occurred in the city's Northeastern, Eastern, Western, and Southwestern police districts. Baltimore homicides are down from this time last year, when killings surged starting in late April, but ahead of the pace of previous years.

The latest deaths happened around 6 p.m. Thursday in 2700 block of The Alameda, where two men, ages 24 and 20, were shot, police said. They died later at a hospital.  

Among the recent victims was Kevon Gant, 29, who was the stepfather of a Baltimore boy who at age 8 became the world's first recipient of a pediatric double-hand transplant last July. Gant was gunned down Monday night in Northwest Baltimore, police said.

Police said the medical examiner's office has ruled that two other recent deaths are homicides, including the scalding death of a 2-month-old girl in Brooklyn.

Wednesday's first homicide occurred about 5:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of N. Carey St. The 22-year-old man died later at an area hospital. His name has not been released pending notification of kin.

About 8 p.m., Christopher Jackson, 24, of the 1900 block of Riggs Ave. was found wounded in the 400 block of Forrest St. at Old Town Mall. He died at an area hospital.

At 9:15 p.m., police found 29-year-old Stanley Ricardo Short in the 2400 block of Frederick Ave., near West Side Shopping Center, suffering from gunshot wounds to his body and head. Short, of the 100 block of Catherine St., later died at a hospital.

The death of Elisha Lynn Watson, whose parents said she was scalded during a bath, was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner's office. Elisha, who was born March 29, died May 4 after suffering burns over 80 percent of her body at the family home in the 500 block of E. Patapsco Ave. No charges have been filed.

The medical examiner's office also ruled the death March 27 of Eugene Gordon Jr., 53, a homicide. He was shot in the head in the first block of N. Gilmor St. on Jan. 16, 1992, and had been living in a nursing home. An autopsy determined that his death was due to complications from the wound.

The deaths brought the number of killings to 105, down from 108 this time last year. That compares with 74 homicides at this point in 2014 and 84 in 2013.
