Fireworks and drones will light up the Baltimore sky for the city’s Fourth of July celebration around the Inner Harbor.

“Each year at our annual Fourth of July celebration, Baltimore welcomes thousands downtown to the waterfront promenade for the best fireworks and drone show in the country and a joyous family-friendly event,” Mayor Brandon Scott said in a news release. “I am so excited to welcome all Baltimoreans from across the city to come enjoy the spectacular show and everything that our downtown has to offer this year.”

Co-host nonprofit the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts partnered with Curtis Bay laser entertainment company Image Engineering for a 150-drone show during New Year’s Eve and said the Independence Day follow-up will include 250. Fireworks will launch from a single barge in the harbor while the drones will take off from Pier Six Pavilion.

Across the harbor in Rash Field Park, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will play a patriotic set to be amplified around the entire promenade from Harborplace to Federal Hill.

A picnic hosted by the nonprofit Waterfront Partnership with food trucks and vendors will start at 3 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. DJ C. James will play a family-friendly set at 6 p.m. followed by Avenue 66, a 10-piece cover band.

Scott will arrive at the celebration by kayak, according to the release. The orchestra will start around 8 p.m. and accompany the 15-minute fireworks and drone show around 9:30 p.m.
