Anne Arundel Police are investigating the robbery of an Amazon delivery driver in Pasadena.
Police responded to the 7700 block of Moonfall Court at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Dec. 15 after an Amazon delivery driver said she was robbed. The driver was assaulted by two unknown Black men dressed in dark clothing, according to a news release. During the ensuing struggle, the driver said she felt what she believed was a handgun beneath one of the suspect’s clothes. The two men then stole several packages and fled in an unknown vehicle, the release said. Police searched the area but did not locate the men or the packages.
The robbery in Pasadena came days after an armed carjacking of a FedEx truck in Baltimore City. Baltimore Police say two people approached and entered the parked vehicle. The FedEx driver attempted to intervene, pulling one person from the vehicle and fighting with him. During that time, the other suspect “gestured that he was armed, showing an L shape in the front of his hoodie front pocket.” While police have not located the two, the stolen FedEx truck as well as the property stolen from it have been found.
Marc Limansky, spokesperson for Anne Arundel Police, said these incidents are “rare” for Anne Arundel County, but they do happen on occasion. In comparison, 15 packages were stolen from porches or apartment mail-room locations from Dec. 1 to Dec. 17 around the county, according to data provided by the Anne Arundel Police Department. That number is a decrease from the 29 package thefts that occurred last year within the same timeframe.
“It affects a tiny percentage of households in the county, but to the victim, having a package stolen off your porch can be unnerving,” Limansky said in an email Tuesday.
There have not been other occurrences similar to Sunday’s robbery in the past few months, according to Limansky. The last incident was in mid-September when two FedEx delivery drivers were assaulted and robbed while delivering packages in Anne Arundel County. The robberies occurred hours apart from one another on Sept. 12 and included a delivery driver being assaulted before packages were stolen from either the truck or nearby porches.
Anne Arundel Police are asking anyone with information about Sunday’s incident to contact 410-222-4730.
