Braves: Sean Murphy hit a pair of two-run homers, Reynaldo López threw five scoreless innings and the Braves completed a three-game sweep of the Tigers with a 7-0 victory on Wednesday in Atlanta. López (5-2) lowered his MLB-leading ERA to 1.57. He allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out six. López has given up just four runs in 40 2/3 innings over six home starts this year. The Braves went 5-1 on a six-game homestand and have won six of their last seven. They allowed just two runs combined in the series and their struggling offense averaged 5.6 runs per game on the homestand. Murphy, who made the National League All-Star team last season, was hitting just .135 in 15 games this season entering the game. The catcher went 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs. Murphy missed 49 games after suffering an oblique injury on opening day. Ramón Laureano was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second of the season and first with the Braves. Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run. In the fourth inning and on second base with out, Albies headed for third while Tigers starter Tarik Skubal was looking in for the sign, and Skubal wildly threw to third, allowing Albies to score to make it 5-0. Skubal (8-3) gave up five runs, four earned, in four innings and allowed two of the Braves’ three home runs. Gio Urshela, Wenceel Perez and Andy Ibáñez each had two hits for the Tigers, who have dropped 10 of 13.

Yankees: Aaron Judge was out of the Yankees’ starting lineup Wednesday night against the Orioles, one night after he was hit on the left hand by a pitch. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Judge was feeling better, though, and even took swings in the indoor batting cage. “I think it’s day to day,” Boone said. “It was probably close today.” Judge was struck by a 94.1 mph fastball from Orioles starter Albert Suárez during the Yankees’ 4-2 win Tuesday night. The slugger left the game an inning later, but X-rays and a CT scan were negative, so it appears he avoided serious injury. “Feeling better after I got some good news,” Judge said Tuesday night after returning to Yankee Stadium from New York–Presbyterian Hospital. “A big relief. Just being hit there a couple of years ago and breaking the wrist, you never know what’s going to happen.” Judge missed 45 games with a broken right wrist after he was hit by a pitch in 2018. Judge, 32, was batting .302 and leads the major leagues with 26 HRs and 64 RBIs.

Pirates: Bryan Reynolds hit a go-ahead HR in the bottom of the eighth and the Pirates edged the visiting Reds 1-0. Reynolds pounced on an 80 mph changeup from Nick Martinez and sent it just over the wall in center field for his 10th HR of the season as the Pirates took two of three from the Reds. Colin Holderman (3-0) retired the three batters he faced in the eighth after coming on for a brilliant Mitch Keller. David Bednar worked a perfect ninth for his 16th save. Keller allowed two hits — singles to Jonathan India and Santiago Espinal — over seven-plus innings while striking out seven. The 28-year-old has pitched at least five innings in 46 straight starts, the longest active streak in the majors. Reds starter Hunter Greene tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

Padres: Matt Waldron (5-6) used his knuckleball to strike out six over seven innings and the Padres avoided a 10th straight road loss with a late rally off the Phillies’ bullpen to win 5-2. The Padres avoided their first 0-6 trip since 2009 and had lost nine straight overall on the road. Robert Suárez worked the ninth for his 18th save. Bryce Harper homered twice for the Phillies and has 17 longballs this season. It was his 22nd career multi-HR game and second of the season.
