Here’s what some fans have told us about the team (answers have been edited for clarity and grammar):
First of all, let me start by saying I think it’s a disgrace in this day and age to have a Canadian on a baseball team — stick to hockey! (I’m just kidding around!) I think he’s gonna be a great addition. His power, speed, defense will all be beneficial but jeez $49 million! Could buy a lot of maple syrup with that money! (Canada joke!) For real, I’m hoping he works out not only so it’s not a waste of money, but because he’s a short king! Not even 6 feet tall, he’s representing the average joe and as a 5-9 guy myself, I love that. #shortkingsunite — Jimbob
Followed him in St. Louis. Spent most of his time on the injured list. Too pumped up to be functional. Hope things go better in Baltimore as they appear to have in Boston. — Lawrence Barron
Signing O’Neill is just more of the same and taking up payroll that could be better spent elsewhere. Another power hitter who is an aging one. Come playoff time I don’t expect things to change offensively, assuming the O’s even make the playoffs. With the exception of the Burnes trade, Elias’ record with making trades in my opinion has been very poor. — Carl Young
