As 2018 approaches, Baltimore’s restaurants are ready to celebrate with prix-fixe menus, champagne toasts and views of fireworks on New Year’s Eve. These are just some of the spots preparing to put on special dinners and celebrations. Most require reservations.

In brief

Get It Inn Island Cuisine, a new Jamaican bar and restaurant, has opened in Locust Point.

The restaurant took over the former home of Sweet Caroline’s at 1401 E. Clement St. in mid-November. The Jamaican hangout is owned by wife-and-husband duo Cassandra and James Samuels. Both of the restaurant’s chefs hail from Jamaica, Samuels said.

With items such as oxtail, jerk chicken and goat curry, the menu offers a range of Jamaican dishes with prices from $2.50 to $17. The bar offers draft beer from six taps as well as bottled beer, rum punch and other cocktails.

Shake Shack is bringing its burgers, custard and crinkle-cut fries to a new a location at the Mall in Columbia. The fast-casual burger joint will open at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 10300 Little Patuxent Parkway, the fourth Shake Shack in Maryland.

The first 100 people in line on its opening day will receive a free Pie Oh My “concrete” — a blended frozen vanilla custard with a slice of seasonal pie from Renata’s Tasty Bites in Columbia.

In addition to its regular menu, Shake Shack will serve other frozen custard mixes specific to the Columbia restaurant, including the Shack Attack (chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough) and the Cookie Butter Blender (vanilla custard, cookie butter, chocolate toffee and chocolate sprinkles).
