¦ Red Sox: OF Andrew Benintendi and C Christian Vazquez homered during a three-run seventh inning that lifted the Red Sox to a 5-4 victory over the Astros. LHP David Price threw six innings against Astros ace Justin Verlander and got the victory, while closer Craig Kimbrel recorded his 19th save.
... 2B Dustin Pedroia returned to the disabled list because of left knee inflammation after playing just three games.
¦ Dodgers:OF Joc Pederson hit a pair of solo homers, OF Matt Kemp went deep during an eight-run seventh inning and the Dodgers routed the Rockies 12-4.
Pederson also doubled and singled to tie his career high for hits in a game. INF Breyvic Valera drove in the first three runs of his big-league career.
¦ Indians: LHP Oliver Perez was signed to help the Indians’ beleaguered bullpen, which has posted the worst relief ERA in baseball. Perez, who made 64 appearances last year for the Nationals and will be joining his eighth major-league team.
¦ Cardinals: 2B Kolten Wong led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run, giving the Cardinals a 3-2 victory over the Pirates.
OF Marcell Ozuna also homered for the Cardinals. Reliever Bud Norris got the win after blowing a save for the first time in 12 opportunities.
