Eileen Mary Messina, telephone operator
Eileen Mary Messina, a former Chesapeake & Potomac Co. telephone operator and a homemaker, died of liver failure Dec. 19 at Easton Memorial Hospital.
The former Millersville resident was 71.
Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Edward Crehan and Jennie Crehan.
She moved to Baltimore, grew up on Mountwood Road in Rognel Heights and attended Catholic High School.
As a young woman, she worked for C&P Telephone in downtown Baltimore.
She married and in 1963 began raising a family in Glen Burnie.
She later lived in Millersville before moving to Denton in 2005.
Mrs. Messina was an avid genealogist who researched her family history.
She played the electric organ — she was a fan of Elvis Presley's music — and made crafts for her home.
She was a Baltimore Orioles fan and often watched games while enjoying crabs and beer.
Services were private.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Michael Messina, a retired truck driver; two sons, Troy Barncord of Fuquay-Varina, N.C. and Darin Barncord of Glen Burnie; four daughters, Renee Neuman of Augusta, Ga., Teressa Baumgardner of Greencastle, Pa., Joleen Messina of Denton and Angela Messina of Baltimore; brothers C.M. Titlow, J.B. Titlow and Johnny Titlow, all of Maryville, Tenn.; a stepson, Michael Messina Jr. of Pennsylvania; a stepdaughter, Merylann Mcleroy of Delaware; and 19 grandchildren.
Her marriages to Jerry Barncord and Joseph Messina ended in divorce.
