Fast finish lifts No. 23 Seton Hall
No. 23 Seton Hall rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit to defeat No. 25 Creighton 90-84 in the Big East opener for both schools Thursday night in East Rutherford, N.J.
Desi Rodriguez led the Pirates (12-2) with 23 points. Khadeen Carrington hit a go-ahead layup with 2 minutes, 5 seconds to play and finished with 18. Angel Delgado added 18 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out late, and Myles Powell scored 17.
Martin Krampelj had a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds for Creighton (10-3), whose five-game winning streak was snapped. Marcus Foster finished with 14 but only two in the second half. Khyri Thomas had 13 for the Bluejays, who did not score in the final 3:32.
Seton Hall outscored Creighton 48-31 in the second half, hitting 16 of 30 shots. Creighton shot 54 percent in the first half in taking a 53-42 lead.
Seton Hall won its first home game against a fellow top-25 team since 2001.
Zach Norvell Jr. scored 13 points for Gonzaga (11-3).
Jahlil Tripp scored nine points to lead Pacific (5-9), which has lost five in a row. Pacific was undone by 33 percent shooting and lost the rebound battle 46-32 against the taller Zags.
