A witness reportedly saw several kittens being thrown out of the window of an SUV Saturday morning, according to St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to an animal cruelty complaint at about 8:09 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of northbound Route 5 and Route 242 in Morganza, the sheriff’s office said on its Twitter.

A caller reportedly saw a person in a silver SUV, possibly a Toyota, throwing eight or nine kittens from the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. When deputies arrived, they found one dead kitten but couldn’t locate the others.
