A 27-year-old Baltimore man was charged Monday in connection with the shooting that injured a Baltimore County police officer last Thursday.
Andrew Robert Britt is being held without bond while facing multiple charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, for what police believe was a “premeditated” shooting outside of the Wilkens police precinct near the University of Maryland Baltimore County campus.
In Maryland, attempted first-degree murder carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Britt, a resident of the Windsor Hills neighborhood in West Baltimore, was also charged with first-degree assault, illegal possession of a regulated firearm and firearm use in a felony or violent crime.
The injured officer was released from University of Maryland’s R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Sunday. Police previously said Britt was in the lower body during the incident where he and officers exchanged gunfire.
Britt was still hospitalized as of late Monday afternoon, a police spokesman told The Baltimore Sun. His bail review hearing is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Towson.
