Two teens face multiple charges after human remains were found inside the passenger compartment of a burned vehicle in Anne Arundel County, police said Saturday.

The man from Davidsonville and the woman from Harwood, both 18, were taken into custody at a residence in the unit block of Bethel Lane on Saturday. They are each charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree murder and arson.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, the fire occurred around 9:25 p.m. on May 24 in a commercial parking lot at 600 W. Central Ave. in Davidsonville. The Tropic Bay Water Gardens center is located there. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle “fully engulfed” in flames, police said in a news release.

The department said that once the flames were extinguished, human remains were discovered in the passenger side of the vehicle. The Office of the State Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide. The determination of the cause of death is pending. Detectives, through investigative means, identified the two suspects in this case. Investigators are still working to identify the adult male victim.
