Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Tori Amos is working on a children’s book — her first — that she hopes will help young people follow their own paths of inspiration.
“Tori and the Muses” will be published March 4 by the Penguin Random House imprint Penguin Workshop. Illustrated by Demelsa Haughton, Amos’ book tells of a girl blessed with the guidance of 11 secret muses who reveal to her a world rich in material for an emerging artist.
“In a time where children’s minds are dominated by small screens, I really wanted to offer up a different way for the reader to find inspiration and magic, that is all around each of us,” Amos said in a statement. “For me, the muses allowed me to escape the concrete boundaries that confined me and enabled me to find a place where I could create without fear of judgment. The muses are there for everyone should you ever wish to look and trust me here.”
Amos, 61, is known for such songs as “Spark,” “Professional Widow” and “A Sorta Fairytale.” Her previous books include “Piece by Piece” and “Resistance: A Songwriter’s Story of Hope, Change, and Courage.”

The Stallones will be recognized with amfAR’s Award of Inspiration for their support of amfAR’s work as well as other causes related to health, education and women’s rights. Past recipients include Richard Gere, Ava DuVernay, Cher, Miley Cyrus and Charlize Theron.
“AmfAR is thrilled to be bringing this signature fundraising gala to Las Vegas,” amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost said Tuesday. “We are deeply grateful to our performers, honorees and sponsors, and to the Wynn for hosting this event and for recognizing the importance of amfAR’s lifesaving work.”
‘Game of Thrones’ items fetch over $21M: “Game of Thrones” fans came out in droves to bid on hundreds of costumes, props and other items from the series in an auction that raked in over $21 million.
The Heritage Auctions event in Dallas featured over 900 lots including suits of armor, swords and weapons, jewelry and several other items of significance from the HBO series. The top-dollar item was the very thing the characters in the series vied for throughout its eight-season run: the Iron Throne. After a six-minute bidding war, the throne sold for $1.49 million.
Beyond the coveted Iron Throne, over 30 other lots commanded six-figure price tags. Jon Snow’s signature sword, Longclaw, wielded onscreen by Kit Harington, sold for $400,000, and his night’s watch ensemble went for $337,500.
