Twins: Byron Buxton had a three-run homer among his three hits and the Twins beat the Diamondbacks 13-6 on Thursday in Phoenix. Twins shortstop Carlos Correa left the game in the seventh inning after being hit by a pitch on the right wrist by Bryce Jarvis. X-rays were negative and the team listed him as day to day. Correa was on base five times, with a single, two walks, catcher’s interference and a hit by pitch. Buxton, who hit his seventh homer of the season, also scored three times as the Twins scored all 13 of their runs between the second and fifth innings. The Twins took two of three in the series and have won four of their last five. The Diamondbacks trailed 11-0 before scoring four runs off David Festa, who was making his major-league debut. Ketel Marte hit his 17th homer, tying Christian Walker for the team lead. Festa got plenty of run support and the win. He lasted five innings, giving up seven hits and five runs, walking gone and striking out two. Montgomery had won his last three starts, but the all right-handed Twins lineup jumped on him early, scoring six runs in a 38-pitch second inning. The Diamondbacks have lost four of their last five games.

White Sox: Luis Robert Jr. homered in the first inning and five pitchers combined on a three-hitter as the White Sox beat Chris Sale and the visiting Braves 1-0. Sale (10-3) struck out a season-high 11 in seven innings against his original team. The 35-year-old lefty allowed four hits and walked one in a fourth straight solid start. He was touched up only when Robert connected on a low-inside slider for his eighth HR. The White Sox ended a four-game slide and won for just the second time in nine games. They have the worst record in the majors at 22-61. The Braves have lost two in a row and three of four. In the makeup of an April 3 rainout, Robert entered batting just .190 but ended an 11-game drought without a HR. He had 38 HRs and 80 RBIs during a breakout All-Star season in 2023, but missed nearly two months this year with a right hip flexor strain sustained against the Royals on April 5. Chad Kuhl made his first start for White Sox and first in the majors since April 2023 with the Pirates. He tossed three-plus innings and permitted just one hit, a double by Ozzie Albies leading off the fourth. Jarred Shuster (1-0), the second White Sox reliever, pitched three innings for the win. Michael Kopech worked around an error in the ninth for his sixth save in 10 chances. The 32-year- old Kuhl signed with the White Sox as a free agent in the offseason and was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte two week ago. Sale spent his first seven seasons with the White Sox. He was an All-Star in seven straight years through 2018 — five with the White Sox and two with the Red Sox — then struggled with injuries.

Guardians: Free agent LHP Matthew Boyd agreed to a major league contract with the Guardians, according to reports. The 33-year-old Boyd had reconstructive elbow surgery last year.
