Stephen Kelly (Calvert Hall) scored the go-ahead goal and cousin Patrick Kelly (Calvert Hall) added one for insurance to help the No. 13 North Carolina men's lacrosse team complete a comeback and upset No. 1 Notre Dame, 17-15, on Saturday.

The host Tar Heels (8-5, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) trailed the Fighting Irish 10-5 with 10 minutes left. Stephen Kelly scored with 2:50 left, and Patrick Kelly scored with 1:49 remaining.

Notre Dame (9-2, 3-1) broke an 8-all tie with a 6-1 run in the third quarter. Sergio Perkovic finished with four goals, and Mikey Wynne (St. Paul's) had three.

“We don't play a whole lot of 17-15 games, and there's a reason for that,” Notre Dame coach Kevin Corrigan said. “That's not the way we play. We gave away too many plays in the course of the game to feel good about it. We made too many mental errors in a lot of different situations, and we didn't get stops when we needed them.”

No. 2 Denver 17, Providence 7: The host Friars (7-7, 1-3 Big East Conference) hung with the Pioneers (11-1, 4-0) in the first half, but an 11-2 second-half run by Denver proved too much.

“Providence is a really good lacrosse team and very well coached,” Denver coach Bill Tierney said. “They gave us fits in the first half, but I'm really proud of the second-half performance from our guys today.”

Brendan Bomberry had three goals, and Maryland transfer Connor Cannizzaro added two goals and two assists for the Pioneers.

No. 3 Brown 22, Cornell 5: Kylor Bellistri scored four goals as the Bears (12-1, 5-0 Ivy League) dominated the host Big Red (6-6, 1-4).

Brown had 11 goal scorers, including four with hat tricks.

No. 6 Albany 14, No. 4 Yale 13, OT: Blaze Riorden made two saves in overtime and Seth Oakes scored the winner to lift the Great Danes (10-2) over the host Bulldogs (10-2).

Riorden finished with 14 saves, and Oakes had four goals. Yale scored twice over the final 3:47 to force overtime.

No. 9 Air Force 9, Richmond 8: The host Spiders (9-4, 5-1 Southern Conference) came within a goal with five minutes to go, but no closer.

Andrew Tien had a hat trick and Chris Walsch (Gilman) had a goal and two assists for the Falcons (12-2, 6-0).

No. 18 Villanova 18, St. John's 13: Christian Cuccinello had four goals and Devin McNamara (Loyola Blakefield) had a hat trick to power the Wildcats (8-4, 2-2 Big East) past the host Red Storm (1-12, 0-4).

Women

No. 3 North Carolina 16, No. 15 Duke 8: The host Tar Heels (13-2, 7-0 ACC) went on a 7-0 run in the first half to beat the Blue Devils (9-7, 4-3).

Ela Hazar and Aly Messinger scored three goals each for North Carolina, which won its 10th straight game and earned the ACC regular-season championship.

Kyra Harney scored three goals and Kelci Smesko had two goals and an assist for Duke.

No. 5 Syracuse 13, No. 7 Louisville 10: Kayla Treanor scored her 251st career goal to set Syracuse's all-time record as the host Orange (14-4, 5-2 ACC) topped the Cardinals (12-4, 3-4).

Treanor, who ranks second in the nation in draw controls per game, had 12 against the national leader, Louisville's Kaylin Morissette, who had four.

No. 10 Notre Dame 17, No. 9 Ohio State 9: Cortney Fortunato scored five goals and the visiting Fighting Irish (12-5) used a 6-0 run in the second half to defeat the Buckeyes (11-4).

No. 11 Princeton 14, Columbia 9: The Tigers (10-4, 5-1 Ivy) had points from 10 players to cruise to a win over the host Lions (6-8, 1-5).

Olivia Hompe scored four goals and Ellie DeGarmo (Bryn Mawr) made 10 saves for Princeton.

No. 14 Penn 9, Yale 8: Alex Condon scored four goals to help the visiting Quakers (11-3, 5-1 Ivy) edge the Bulldogs (5-9, 2-4).

Penn started the game with a 5-0 run, but Yale tied the game at 6 with 16:17 remaining. The Quakers then scored three straight and held on for the victory.

No. 16 Penn State 17, No. 17 Northwestern 13: The host Nittany Lions (11-4, 3-1 Big Ten) scored the final five goals to defeat the Wildcats (7-8, 2-2).

Madison Cyr (Winters Mill), Katie O'Donnell and Madison Carter (South River) each scored four goals, Steph Lazo (St. Mary's) had a hat trick and Jenna Mosketti (Fallston) added two goals for Penn State.

No. 18 Cornell 11, Harvard 3: Amie Dickson scored three goals and the Big Red (11-3, 5-1 Ivy) started the game on an 8-1 run to defeat the host Crimson (7-6, 3-3).
