Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has spent $221,000 on air travel as he moves around the country on his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, according to campaign finance records.

The senator has been visiting red districts throughout the country along with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to rally supporters against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

That tour also comes amid rumors Ocasio-Cortez might launch a bid for the 2028 presidency, though she has yet to make an official announcement.

Campaign finance records released by Sanders’s office show Friends of Bernie Sanders spent $221,723 chartering private jets in the first quarter of 2025.

That group is designated as his principal finance committee, meaning it is charged with overseeing the senator’s financial affairs.

The Washington Free Beacon was the first to report on the findings.

Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez were in Folsom, California, this past week for a campaign-style rally at Folsom Lake College. Ocasio-Cortez announced after taking the stage that 26,000 were in attendance, according to CBS News.

Sanders has frequently expressed frustration with “billionaires” and those who use extreme sums of money for political gain during his tour.

“People are tired of a corrupt political system that allows billionaires to buy elections,” he wrote on X on Wednesday. “And they’re ready to fight back.”

“Billionaires own our political process,” he added in another post this month. “Does that sound like a real democracy to you?”

During a recent tour stop in at the University of Montana in Missoula, Sanders said, according to the Daily Montanan, “we are tired of being oppressed. We believe in democracy, not authoritarianism. We believe in an economy that works for all, not just for Musk and his fellow billionaires.”
