Some 300 folks filled the bar area on the third level of the M&T Bank Exchange at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center at the Hippodrome Theatre as the ShareBaby 10th Anniversary Celebration got underway. Chief among the evening’s topic of conversation was how much the nonprofit has grown since its start in 2014, when three moms – Kristin Finkelstein, Maya Ammons and Kate Mumaw — founded the organization and started gathering a few hundred items a month for babies and children and distributing them to families in need. Now, ShareBaby distributes more than 200,000 diapers and other essentials to some 15,000 children in the Baltimore area.
“It’s unbelievable that it’s grown this much this fast,” said Finkelstein.
“We never in a million years thought it would amount to this, added Ammons.
“It’s grown from three moms who love their kids, who wanted to spread the love,” said Mumaw.
So, how did all of this make ShareBaby’s founders feel?
“Overwhelmed,” the three replied in unison.
